Tiguan Infotainment System
The Test Concepts and Validation Group of the ERL has done extensive testing on different Infotainment systems that were initially released with the 2008 Tiguan. The emphasis of testing and validation in California is on North American specific features such as satellite radio, traffic information, and navigation behaviors.
For North American market infotainment/entertainment systems, local validation improves the usability and performance of market products. In the case of the latest infotainment system, satellite radio testing was done to ensure the performance and behavior of satellite radio and its various features. Traffic information is also received via satellite and is distinctly different than in Europe. This requires testing of the system in North America for correct traffic message handling and display. With the addition of flow information to the incidents, a need for localized traffic testing and data acquisition was required. This was filled by the TC&V team.
